   Plate 68

Plate 68 formed in 1994, from the remnants of the critically acclaimed acoustic trio, from Portland Maine known as Scarecrow Assembly. Centered on the words and music of Craig Patterson, with assistance from his Lumpy Tater cohorts Jeffrey Deason and Rob Morse, as well as an everchanging cast of other talented musicians; Plate 68 explores the wide array of musical options available to the eclectic and adventurous listener, in an unveiled attempt at avoiding the mundane.

Craig Patterson - electric guitars, programs. percussion, vocals.
Karen Mason - vocals
This song was originally recorded by Club of Rome in 1986 and many found its central message (that the planet was in peril) difficult to accept. Though this message is now widely accepted we have still done very little to effect change and time is running out. I have updated (some may say butchered) the song both musically and lyrically. Sadly I find its sentiment still rings true.

The sky is grey and full of smoke; it clouds your mind, it makes you choke. Don't step outside into the rain, the acidity will burn your brain. No need to paint the picture in your mind. Racin' around in our S.U.V.'s stealin' home in a suicide squeeze. Gonna burn that fossil fuel 'till it's all but gone and there's nothin' left of what we once called home. Fast food burgers sure taste good, cattle grow in place of amazon wood, the corporate heads say it's cheaper to buy. Profits win and species die. No need to paint the picture in your mind.
